Auburn police are searching for a local man who they say is possibly armed and could be dangerous.
Elmer P. Wilson III, 32, whose last known address is 45 Blauvelt Drive, Port Byron, is wanted on five charges stemming from two separate warrants.
Wilson is charged with one felony count of second-degree burglary, three felony counts of first-degree criminal contempt, one felony count of unlawful imprisonment and one misdemeanor count each of second-degree aggravated harassment and third-degree menacing.
Auburn detective Lt. Shawn Butler said Wednesday that all the alleged incidents involved one victim, and the alleged burglary took place within the last week. However, Butler did not release further information about the incidents for the sake of protecting the victim, he said.
The APD has dealt with Wilson before, and he is known to carry knives, Butler said. According to the official APD release, Wilson may be living in a tent in wooded areas or near Auburn.
Wilson is described as a white male, 5-foot-11 and 215 pounds, with black hair and black eyes. If you see Wilson, do not approach him, police said.
Auburn police detectives ask anyone with knowledge of Wilson's whereabouts to call them at 253-3235. Calls will remain anonymous, police said.

Just because there are other criminals in the world does not change one thing about this man being a dangerous criminal on the loose himself, family friend or not. In fact, I'd think that would make him more scary -- he may try to contact someone he knows for assistance, or to force them to assist him -- much more likely than a random stranger -- which means he may be more of a threat to someone YOU know even than to the rest of us.
