ROCHESTER -- A hospital patient in upstate New York appears to be stricken with Legionnaires' disease.
Preliminary tests indicate the unidentified person contracted the potentially fatal respiratory ailment, but a definitive diagnosis won't be known for up to 10 days. It isn't yet known if the illness was contracted before or during the patient's stay at Rochester General Hospital.
The hospital had two cases of Legionnaires in the spring and the bacteria was found in several places at the hospital.
A Legionnaires' outbreak at a Syracuse hospital and a nearby nursing home has sickened 13 people since late June. One patient died. The origin remains under investigation.
