MANSFIELD - A western New York man is dead and a woman is hospitalized in critical condition after a one-car accident in Cattaraugus County.
Police say 58-year-old Levi White Jr. of East Otto was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash in the town of Mansfield Saturday night.
Investigators believe he was speeding when he lost control of his minivan on a curve, sending it tumbling several times before it landed in a creek bed.
Both the driver and front-seat passenger, 29-year-old Christina White, were thrown from the vehicle in the crash.
She was flown by helicopter to a hospital where she is listed in critical condition.
Two teenage passengers sitting in the back seat also were injured.
Police say all of them were from the East Otto area.
