Well, well now! I am just beside myself! I just finished reading Mark Palesh's Friday contribution in which he quotes Thomas Jefferson, saying, “The government is best which governs least.”
He then goes on to condemn the application of excessive, unnecessary governmental interference in the lives of its citizens best characterized by the rubric “Big Brother knows best.”
I'm just curious how all this lofty rhetoric squares with the former campaign against Family Video's innocuous adult video section; a campaign orchestrated by Palesh, which included not only the filing of code violation charges against Family Video by the City of Auburn, but - after that tactic failed (Thank justice!) - an attempt to pull a “run-around” on that sagacious decision by suggesting a changing of the ordinance to place further, tougher restrictions on new and existing businesses!
Mercy!
Palesh says, “In the case of how we will affect economic development in the future, we must go to those who know economic forces best; and that is not government.”
Hmm ... got hypocrisy?

One thing I WOULDN'T do--force my kids to wear a sign while standing on my soapbox with me!
I'll wager that your jealousy of my sharp wit and perspicacious mind blinds you to the salient wit and wisdom of my letter here. It's really quite a remarkable piece of journalism! "

Are you one of those people who stand on Wegman's corners and force their kids to wear signs?
I'll wager... "
