Weather interrupts play again
AUBURN - Mark Sobolewski continued his hot streak and Joel Collins crushed his second home run of the season, but it was the weather that stole the spotlight at Falcon Park on Saturday.
The Auburn Doubledays held a slim 7-6 lead over their rival in the standings, Williamsport, with two outs and a 2-1 count on Steve Susdorf in the top of the seventh before a serious downpour and intermittent lightning suspended the game. After a 30-minute delay, the decision was made to resume play at 5:30 p.m. today, followed by a complete nine inning game, the finale of the series.
The game could have been called official after five innings, but with the two teams neck-and-neck at second place in the Pinckney Division, it was understandable the close contest be decided in nine innings.
