Auburn wins third straight game
AUBURN - Mark Sobolewski had a perfect night and the Auburn Doubledays offense broke out in a big way in their 8-1 win over Williamsport on Friday night.
The Doubledays stalled the Crosscutters' four-game win streak and earned their third straight victory after two monstrous innings late in the game. With the score knotted 1-1 heading into the seventh, the Doubledays decided they'd had enough of stranding runners on the bags and sent just about everybody home in the seventh and eighth innings. Sobolewski pounded his fourth hit to score Chris Demons for the go-ahead run in the seventh and the Doubledays took it from there. Jon Del Campo and Bartolo Nicholas hit consecutive RBIs off Charles Vartanian, who suffered his first loss of the season.
Auburn's third baseman was the big story of the night, however, as Sobolewski broke out in a big way, going 5-for-5 with three RBIs on the night. Before the game, the Toronto Blue Jays' fourth-round pick this season was carrying around a .182 average with eight hits and no RBIs in 12 games.
