A woman was found dead early Thursday morning when wreckage of a minivan was located off Route 34B in the Town of Scipio.
The Cayuga County Sheriff's Office said a passing motorist reported the accident at 4:14 a.m. Thursday but it is not known when the crash occurred.
Police said a 2008 Honda Odyssey driven by Katherine M. Gehring, 44, of 4032 Wycoff Road, Scipio, had been traveling northbound on Route 34B near Manchester Road in Scipio when it left the east side of the roadway and overturned several times.
Police said Gehring was ejected at the vehicle overturned. She was transported to Auburn Memorial Hospital where she was pronounced dead on arrival, police said.
Police said Gehring had been traveling alone and was not wearing a seat belt.
Police said that before moving to Scipio, Gehring had lived at 2 Standart Ave., Auburn.
The cause of the accident is still under investigation and police ask anyone with information to contact the Cayuga County Sheriff's Office at 253-1610.
