The Auburn Police Department is investigating a Sunday daylight home invasion of a Cayuga Street apartment that netted the thief $2,800 in cash in addition to nearly a gram of marijuana.
Police said the tenants called the department at 12:46 p.m. to report that a man had broken into their home and threatened them with a gun before tying them up.

Police said no one was injured during the robbery, and that they were investigating whether or not the man knew he would find the drugs and the cash in the apartment.

The suspect was described as a 6 foot tall Hispanic man weighing nearly 160 pounds, with shoulder-length dreadlocks rolled tight to the scalp and a possible tattoo on his upper back. The victims also told police the man was driving an older model silver or gray Ford Crown Victoria, or a similar car, with out-of-state license plates.

Police said no drug charges have been filed against the tenants pending further investigation, and that they are asking the public's assistance finding the suspect.

Anyone with information is urged to call police department at 253-3235 or Detective William Gleason at 258-9880. Callers may remain anonymous.
