We pay our teachers above board (average for this area), but the administrators are paid just a notch better. Your super is paid $24,000 more a year than ours, WHY. "

Local jobless rate climbs By The Citizen staff report

Cayuga County's June unemployment rate was a full percentage point above prior-year levels, and it reached its highest point for the month since 2003, according to the latest state Department of Labor job market data.
The monthly unemployment rate of 5.1 percent was also higher than the 4.9 percent rate posted for May of this year.

The last time the June rate exceeded the 5-percent threshold was five years ago, when the rate was 5.3 percent.

Cayuga County's weakening job market is actually in better shape than most in New York. The statewide unemployment rate for June was 5.2 percent, up from 4.9 percent in May and 4.4 percent in June 2007.

State labor officials are not optimistic about the situation.

“Most indicators suggest the state's labor market conditions continue to deteriorate,” said Peter A. Neenan, director of the DOL's Division of Research and Statistics, in a press release. "

" Who wouldn't like more money? But the difference is, the elected officials in the City happen to care about the tax burden, and they opt to control spending instead of raising taxes. You had 7 other bobble heads bowing to the control of JD Pabis and his so called team of experts, and this includes Council hopeful Sam Giangreco. If you, or Sam wanted to control spending, you would have demanded that JD Pabis reduce the administrators he hired in his bloated administration. Instead you opted to ask, "no", I mean demand more and more from the public in spite of decreasing enrollment numbers and decreasing performance in our students, and in turn you supported a drop out rate that in truth was quite embarrassing. So you have no credibility Mr Lansford, not you or the rest of the board or does JD Pabis, you people have demonstrated where your loyalties lay, and they are not with the people who have selflessly supported this district for years without question.
