Not sure why no one has covered the local hard-working individuals that have qualified for the U.S. Olympic team. Two runners with central New York ties are on their way to compete for their dreams. We want to wish them the best of luck in the Olympics!
€ Lopez Lomong, who ran for Tully High School, qualified with a third place finish in the Men's 1500m.
€ Jennifer Rhines, who is a Liverpool High School graduate, finished with a second place finish in the Woman's 5000m.
Other Locals who were listed as qualifying (USATF) for the Olympic trials should be commended:
€ Kyle Heath, Syracuse University, Men's 3000m Steeplechase
€ Muhammed Halim, Cornell University, Men's Triple Jump
€ Molly Huddle, Elmira, Woman's 5000m and 10000m
€ Maureen McCandless, Syracuse, Woman's 5000m
Great job all! If I missed anyone I apologize! You all deserve the best!
