Mike Charles through a complete game one hitter as the Auburn 10-11 year olds District 5 All-star team upended Northern Cayuga 11-1 in Geneva Thursday. They advance to play in the finals at 6 p.m. Saturday in Geneva.
Mike Charles, Hunter Charles, Nick Petrosino, Tommy Herbert and Max Pinchack (double) each managed a hit, as most of Auburn's runs were scored on walks. Northern Cayuga led 1-0 after the first inning, but Auburn came back with a vengeance.
A 9-4-5 cut-off play involving Petrosino, Herbert and Kevin DiCola stopped a Northern Cayuga threat in the third inning.
“After that, we just broke out,” said Auburn coach Mike Charles. “The bats kind of woke up a little bit.”
