Local food pantry, kitchen thrives on its volunteers

Friday, July 18, 2008 8:47 AM EDT

First Love Ministries and The Community Soup Kitchen would like to thank the Owasco Fire Department for its generous donation of food to the Soup Kitchen. The food from their July 4 celebration truly was a blessing to those who come to the Community Soup Kitchen for food as well as to those who prepare food for them.
The Community Soup Kitchen is open daily, Monday through Friday and serves meals from 11:45 a.m. until 1 p.m. All are welcomed.

Also, to correct any misconceptions, all of the staff serving at the Community Soup Kitchen volunteer their time and efforts to serve the less fortunate in our community. First Love Ministries Food Pantry, The Community Caring Center, The Salvation Army Miracle Kitchen and area food providers are all staffed by volunteers who willingly give of their time, efforts, energy and finances to serve those in need in our community.

Yes, we can always utilize more volunteers in these ministries. Those interested can contact Lorraine Canino at the church office for The Community Soup Kitchen, First Love Ministries Food Pantry and The Community Caring Center. We will gladly put interested individuals in contact with the other area food providers as well. Please call 252-4164 for further information.

Thank you and God richly bless our community.
