The Auburn Doubledays held Hudson Valley scoreless for five straight innings, but it wasn't enough as the Renegades scored in the bottom of the ninth to escape with the 4-3 win on Thursday.
Hudson Valley jumped to a 3-0 lead through three innings, but the Doubledays sprinkled in a run in the fourth, sixth and eighth inning each to tie the score. Justin Cryer, Charlie Huggins and Jay Monti prevented the Renegades from scoring again, but Danny Farquhar (0-1) allowed three hits in the ninth. With two outs, Kyeong Kang singled to score Robi Estrada for the win.
The Renegades pounded out 14 hits on the night, but the Doubledays tallied eight of their own. Auburn newcomer Mike McDade's bat continued to be hot, as he went 3-for-4, with a double and an RBI. Leadoff batter Chris Demons sank in two hits of his own, while No. 2 batter Chris Hopkins scored twice.
