FULTON -- State health officials have taken control of a Syracuse-area nursing home following allegations of abuse and neglect, and residents are being moved to other facilities.
Officials say several residents of the Rosewood Adult Care Home in Fulton were rounded up one day last month, taken outside, and forced to get close-cropped haircuts from a teenage boy.

All clothing in the 24-bed facility was later confiscated for cleaning, leaving residents with nothing but bed sheets to wear and bare mattresses to sleep on for several days.

The nursing home's owner, Rose Shorter, told state officials those steps were taken after head lice was found on two residents.

Shorter couldn't be reached by phone Friday morning and her attorney, David Ross, was unavailable.
