There are no doubt numerous possibilities as to why the spraying is being done. Atmospheric spraying by the government is certainly nothing new. In one experiment during the 50's or 60's (I do not remember the name of the program) the government sprayed bacteriological agents in the San Francisco Bay area, resulting in the death of at least one person, and many others became seriously ill.
Of course, you no doubt think I am wearing my tin foil hat again, but the fact is the government ended up admitting to this.
Anyhow, I ran across this link which appears to be good information on the topic, though I cannot vouch for the rest of the site.

I'm mad? Well, coming from someone who has zero reading comprehension I guess I shouldn't be surprised to be accused of that by you.
Tell me, SFB, where I even speculated as to what the chemtrails are for? How is it that you associate my comments with something you "google up" that I have never even read or commented on? You are not thinking very clearly NL, but that is not surprising. I'll put this all in a nutshell for all you nutcases out there:
I have seen chemtrails, and I know the difference between chemtrails and contrails. I do not know what the chemtrails are for, nor did I ever suggest that I do.
That said, here is a link which you might find interesting. (personally, I have not looked at the issue for several years until now). This link which I just found is EXACTLY what I personally witnessed in this area more than once.

And finally, the average cost of gas as of Jun. 2008 nationally was $4.10.
So, since Pelosi took over, gas has increased $1.74 per gallon. That means the cost of a gallon of gas has almost doubled.

Good article about the current energy issues going on. From the article:
Don't worry, though, congressional Democrats have a bold plan. Hold on for 10 or 15 years and they'll have a bounty of energy options. They promise. But no oil shale. No clean coal. No nuclear power. And definitely no more oil.
They will not enable your revolting, inefficient lifestyle. In the short-term, offshore drilling, especially, is a pie-in-the-sky fairy tale. Unlike, say, pond scum and hydrogen fuel packs.
On the bright side, it seems that reality is beginning to overtake fantasy. This week, Newt Gingrich's American Solutions for Winning the Future group delivered 1.3 million signatures to Congress, demanding that Washington allow more drilling. A recent Zogby International polls shows 74 percent of likely voters support offshore drilling in U.S. coastal waters, and 59 percent favor drilling for oil in the tundra of the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge.
There are few issues in America that offer this kind of impressive "unity." But apparently when unity doesn't align with left-wing orthodoxy, we need more "leadership" to explain why we're wrong.
Presumptive presidential nominee Barack Obama called offshore drilling a "gimmick." According to other Democrats, prices would not be affected for five years and oil companies probably would not use the leases anyway.
and:
So why can't Americans look forward to more domestic oil? Well, because carbon is bad for you. Because countless Democrats believe that high prices will help wean us off this terrible addiction.
For many, environmental concerns outweigh the economic well-being of citizens. For some, the migratory paths of caribou trump your selfish habit of heating and cooling your home.
No, drilling isn't "the answer." Yet, the potential positives from increasing domestic supply outweigh any concerns of the opposition. Certainly any they can talk about in public. "

Some history on this wacko:
Appearing with Louis Farrakhan, calling globalization a "cruel hoax," advocating for Zimbabwean dictator Robert Mugabe and this statement on a radio show in 2002:
"We know there were numerous warnings of the events to come on September 11," McKinney said that day. "What did this administration know and when did it know it, about the events of September 11? Who else knew, and why did they not warn the innocent people of New York who were needlessly murdered? What do they have to hide?" McKinney thought she knew the answer. "What is undeniable," she explained, "is that corporations close to the administration have directly benefited from the increased defense spending arising from the aftermath of September 11th."
This is the same woman arrested for slapping a US Capital police officer, wasted time and money by introducing a bill to provide for the "expeditious disclosure of records relevant to the life and death of Tupac Amaru Shakur," the rapper murdered in Las Vegas in 1996.

As for me, because I’m preemptively being defined as a racist (since I most certainly won’t vote for Obama), I’ve decided to step up to the plate and embrace that definition. From here on in, I’ve got my mantra.
When I vote against Obama on November 4, 2008:
It won’t be because Obama wants to withdraw from Iraq, which I think will weaken America’s interests beyond repair, it will be because I’m a racist.
It won’t be because Obama thinks that a nuclear Iran is no threat to the Western World, it will be because I’m a racist.
It won’t be because I think it’s an incredibly stupid idea for the most powerful nation in the world to approach evil totalitarian dictators as a supplicant, it will be because I’m a racist.
It won’t be because I hate the idea of a President who will subordinate America’s interests to the UN (as he inevitably will), it will be because I’m a racist.
It won’t be because Obama has the thinnest resume ever in the history of Presidential candidates, it will be because I’m a racist.
It won’t be because I think Obama’s Leftist connections (Ayres, Dohrn, Soros, Pfleger, Wright, etc.) show him to be either stupid about or complicit with an agenda antithetical to basic American values, it will be because I’m a racist.
It won’t be because Obama consistently chooses as advisers people who have opted for the wrong side in the completely binary debate about Israel’s right to exist, it will be because I’m a racist.
It won’t be because Obama wants to socialize American medicine, which I believe will destroy the high quality of medical care available to most Americans, it will be because I’m a racist.
It won’t be because Obama wants to gut the military and reduce us to a nation with a big target painted on our collective backside, it will be because I’m a racist.
It won’t be because Obama wants to gut the Second Amendment and destroy Americans’ Constitutional right to protect themselves from foreign and domestic enemies, it will be because I’m a racist.
It won’t be because Obama has already announced loud and clear that he will support activist judges who place their “feelings” above the law, it will be because I’m a racist.
It won’t be because Obama supports judicial decisions creating a right to gay marriage, when I think that decision is one for the voters, it will be because I’m a racist.
It won’t be because Obama’s announced that he will dramatically increase taxes, putting the slow, inflexible, ill-informed government in charge of what should be a quick-reacting, knowledgeable marketplace, it will be because I’m a racist.
It won’t be because Obama’s record in the Senate (albeit short and undistinguished) has been so liberal he makes Teddy Kennedy look like a reactionary, it will be because I’m a racist.
It won’t be because Obama’s an open-borders kind of guy, it will be because I’m a racist.
It won’t be because Obama has shown himself to be a scarily slow thinker and speaker when released from the teleprompter (which really doesn’t bode well for those cozy private chats with Ahmadinejad, Jong-Il, and Assad), it will be because I’m a racist.
It won’t be because Obama’s wife clearly loathes America and everything it stands for, despite the fact that she’s done pretty well out of it, it will be because I’m a racist.
It won’t be because Obama was affiliated for more than 20 years with a church that preached white hatred and began to care only when it looked as if it would affect his campaign, it will be because I’m a racist.
It won’t be because Obama was good buddies with Tony Rezko, and other sleazy characters (showing again that Obama was complicit or a singularly bad judgment of character), it will be because I’m a racist.
It won’t be because Obama’s a compulsive liar who clearly thinks we in the public are too stupid to catch up with his lies, it will be because I’m a racist.
It won’t be because Obama’s campaign has proven to be fly-paper for every two bit troofer and anti-Semite in America, it will be because I’m a racist.
It won’t be because Obama’s promised already to start down the totalitarian path of purging his predecessors through criminal prosecutions, it will be because I’m a racist. "

Wow AJ, just wow. I've seen contrails from jets as well. Contrails are condensation trails and artificial clouds made by the exhaust of aircraft engines or wingtip vortices which precipitate a stream of tiny ice crystals in moist, frigid upper air.
For those of you not in the tin foil hat wearing "reality based" community that AJ and Karl are members of this is what she is talking about:
The Chemtrail conspiracy theory holds that the trails seen behind some aircraft are not ordinary contrails, but are the result of high-altitude spraying of some kind of chemicals for a purpose unknown to the general public. There are different versions of the theory, which hypothesize different chemical composition and purposes. Some chemtrail analysts report that the trails are composed of barium and aluminum oxide, and could be an attempt to affect climate by reflecting sunlight in the atmosphere. Other hypothesis include that they are sprayed over populated areas to affect human beings. "

Hazel Eyez...you couldn't have said it better. I feel the same way. This site should be called "Karl's Blog". "

I didn't look at the site to which AJ sent the link -- and I am not judging the site one way or the other. Maybe the site is wacko. I'm just saying the examples CVN gave aren't the least bit wacky.
The moon landing was for real -- and in the end, a major waste of money for nothing much in return. Bunch of rocks and dust costing millions to visit to no special purpose. Very romantic and exciting, but there's nothing useful up there.
Chemical contrails? What's that? Never heard of it.
Paul is still alive and just finishing out an ugly divorce.
The Illuminati did exist, though I am sure many of the stories about their activities are exaggerated or the product of fevered imaginations.
As for Ithaca, you pretty much have to be employed to live here -- taxes and cost of living are considerably higher than in Auburn. Even now the prices have come down a tad, the cheapest gas I've seen here was $4.23 -- wait, that was in Lansing.... "

I add that bit of "reality based" knowledge with the faked moon landing, the chemical contrails from jet planes,
and Paul is dead.
I better go hide from the Illuminati...

The site also has the obligitory photoshopped pics of Pres. Bush as the devil, Hitler, a clown, pictures from the movie 1984, lots of swastikas and pictures of Nazi youth.
As well as the same old tired and lame accusations that Bush somehow stole the election in 2000 and 2004.

Why is it we constantly see White British liberals attacking not only the British and their culture, but everyone and everything, in the name of anti-racism? Most suggest that they are driven by self-loathing, and this, no doubt, counts for much. They hate British culture, and they are suspicious of the British people – and these more than anything. But, the truth of the matter is that they hate culture, and they are suspicious of humanity itself. They hate high ideals: religion; nation; the flag; virtue; virtus; character; fortitude; justice; honor; freedom of expression; freedom of thought; freedom of conscience. And they are suspicious of anyone who would cultivate himself through them.
Liberalism has convinced us that these things are bad. We hear of ‘law,’ not ‘justice.’ We are embarrassed by the word, ‘God.’ We have exchanged character for ‘personality.’ And we ask ourselves merely, “where will it end?” not, “what can I do?” The US, by contrast, still instills in its citizens – of whichever race or background – a sense of pride and hope. It believes that it is a great nation. And it is a nation “under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.” These are sacred words, and similar words must come to represent Britain, if the nation is to survive into the future.

What is he talking about there? We need a gov't agency aside from local police forces, that is just as big and powerful as the military, providing "security" for us, within the borders of the US? THAT is the scariest thing I've heard out of his mouth yet. And people want to elect this maniac to the highest office in the land! "
