I am very disappointed to learn that the state Department of Environmental Conservation will not require Groton to reduce the amount of phosphorous it dumps into Owasco Lake until 2010, if then.

The DEC was not open and truthful with the citizens who attended the July 1 meeting at Emerson Park to discuss the pollution problems of Owasco Lake.

It is very difficult for citizens to object to DEC's decisions, when clear, specific information is deliberately withheld from the public.

Please take a minute to let the DEC know how much we care about Owasco Lake. The DEC's public comment period for Groton's application is open only until Aug. 8.
