AUBURN - A Syracuse man was sentenced in Cayuga County Court Tuesday to 3.5 years in prison and three years post release supervision for the criminal sale of cocaine
Leeshawn Holmes, 24, of 151 Oak St., Syracuse, was already on parole for selling cocaine in 2004 when he was arrested for selling the same substance to an undercover informant on Sept. 7, 2007.
Cayuga County District Attorney Jon Budelmann said Holmes had posted pictures and comments onto his social networking page online at MySpace, which depicted Holmes bragging about his status as a drug dealer. The pictures showed Holmes flashing large wads of $20 bills in addition to talking about running and dealing drugs.
During his sentencing, Holmes apologized to his family and said he would seek out a drug treatment program while he was in prison.
Holmes' attorney, Simon Moody, said a CHAD evaluation had determined that his client suffered from a chemical addiction as a result of his experience with illegal substances.
Also in court:
€ An Auburn man pleaded guilty to selling 1 to 3 grams of cocaine to an undercover informant on Sept. 30, 2007.
Andre Murphy Jr., 21, of 70 Fitch Ave., Auburn, is expected to receive a shock camp eligible prison sentence in addition to paying $150 in restitution when he sentenced in August.
Murphy's attorney, James Leone, said his client could benefit from a shock camp program, which is similar to military boot camp, because he had never been previously convicted of a crime.
€ An Auburn man was released on $20,000 bond as he prepares to go to trial in November on drug possession and sale charges.
Bruce Wingate, 23, of 35 Quill Ave. Apartment T114, Auburn, had previously been convicted in 2007 for attempting to possess a controlled substance.
