Morse medals as Chiefs roll

Lewis Morse came in as medalist for the golf match, scoring a 42 for Southern Cayuga as the Chiefs defeated Odessa-Montour 238-270 at Wells College Wednesday.
Jordan Dean scored a 46, Kyle Hurd-Perez turned in a 49, Casey Underwood carded a 50 and Dan Le scored a 51 to help aid the Chiefs to victory.

“The wind made a difference out there today by driving the scores up,” Chiefs coach Terry Underwood said.

Southern Cayuga hosts Union Springs, today.

Union Springs 219, Thomas A. Edison 246

Matt Cuff led the Wolves with a 39. Michael Bean turned in a 40, Tim Morabito had a 49 and BJ O'Hara scored a 50 in the win.

Union Springs (2-0) plays Southern Cayuga, today at Wells College.

Skaneateles 199, Jordan-Elbridge 263

Byron Stokes-Cawley led the Lakers with a 37, while Jeff Baldetti carded a 39 at Millstone Golf Club in Elbridge.

For the Eagles, Paul Soderberg led the way with a 46 and Pat Hogan scored 49.

BOYS TRACK AND FIELD

Weedsport 111, Cato-Meridian 29

The Warriors won all but two events in the meet, but the Blue Devils made the most of their two wins. Andrew Gillis broke a 20 year old record in the 200m dash (23.2) and won the triple jump (39-5),

Jim Bos, John Bos, Zach Brown and Zach Field won the 4x800m relay (9:44) for the Warriors, Jordan Petrocci finished first in the 110 hurdles (17.2), Craig Mietz won the 100m dash (5:08).

Jim Bos also won the 400m (55.2) Mike Greer won the 1600m (5:08), while Jesse Schooley, Ethan Gillette, Nick Roden and Mietz won the 4x100 relay (48.7). Abe Jordan won the 400 hurdles (68.7), Field placed first in the 800m (2:19.8) and Mike Greer took the 3200m (11:14). Abe Jordan, Oliver Jordan, Field and Bos won the 4x400 relay (17-11), while Oliver Jordan won both the shot put (43-11.5) and discus (113-.5). Dominic Galletta earned first in the pole vault (8-0) and Zach Nevidomsky took first in the high jump (5-10).

Cato-Meridian (1-1) hosts Bishop Grimes on the 23rd, while Weedsport (2-0) hosts Port Byron on the same day.

GIRLS TRACK AND FIELD

Weedsport 76, Cato-Meridian 63

Weedsport's Kaitlin Hammersley placed first in two field events to help lead the Warriors to the win. She won the pole vault (7-9) and shot put (29-8).

Also for the Warriors, Alyssa O'Bryan, Amy Sanchez, Erin Daly and Ashley Edmunds took the 4x800 relay (11:52) and the 4x400 relay (4:53.1).

Sanchez also won the 1500m (5:52.1) and the long jump (12-11). Sharra Bretlinger, Christi Quinn, Alyssa Field and Nicole Greer took the 4x100 relay (59.5). Quinn also won the 200m (31.2) and O'Bryan also took the high jump (4-6) and 3000m (12:53). Erin Daly came in first in the 800m (247.3).

For the Blue Devils, Somer Stuter won the 100 high hurdles (17.8) and the triple jump (29-0), Ashley Gillis won the 100m (14.5) and Jessica Griffiths took the 400m (75.8). Tara Pickard came in first in the 400 hurdles (85.0) and Kristine DeLattre won the discus (77-11).

GIRLS LACROSSE

Auburn 12, Oswego 8

Flannery Nangle led Auburn with four goals and two assists, while Kaitlyn Aldrich earned a hat trick. Nicole Schattinger and Chelsea Smith scored twice each for the Maroons.

Abby Valentino recorded a goal, while Taylor Baran added an assist.

In the net, Britney Baran recorded 15 saves.

With the win, Auburn advances to a 3-2 record

BOYS LACROSSE

Auburn 13, Corcoran 9

Mike Fandrich scored three goals and added an assist to lead the Maroons. Bob Brannigan added a hat trick of his own, while Andrew Chadderdon and Connor Entenmann each scored two goals and two assists. Matt Hoey also scored twice. Matt Festa put in a goal and passed for another. Contributing assists in the win were Matt Clancy, Sean Hogan and Brian Petrosino.

Kevin Dyer grabbed eight saves, as the Maroons outshot the Cougars 51-27. Auburn also had the advantage in ground balls 49-40 and won 16 of 26 faceoffs.

The Maroons (3-1) play Skaneateles at Homer High School on Saturday.

JV BOYS LACROSSE

Auburn 6, Corcoran 4

Chris Porten and Brian Church each recorded two goals, while Josh Brown had one. Nick Herlihy dished out an assist and Mitch Ringwood had eight saves.

Auburn (3-0) hosts Nottingham Friday.
