When the founders of the women's rights movement imagined the privileges their progeny would enjoy, melting ears with rock music was probably not among them.
Three days full of female performers will nonetheless come together for the seventh annual Women's Rights 2 Rock in Seneca Falls. Teenager Marissa Legott thought of the idea while traveling by People's Park as an 8-year-old, and her father, Mark, a concert promoter, brought the idea to the village.
The family festival started as a one-night show featuring four female-fronted bands and has since grown to include 30 acts over the course of three days this year. Audience members are encouraged to bring blankets, chairs, pets, food and sunscreen to the event. In addition to the music, face painting, tarot card reading and craft vendors will be available.
In the festival's slate of acoustic, blues, folk, metal, rock, country, R&B, punk and classical performers, every audience member should find something right for them.
