Bonca's opens without town certificate
Despite the town's refusal to grant a certificate of occupancy for their business, the owners of the new Bonca's restaurant have opened their doors Saturday.
Greg Rigby, one of the partners in the business, said the eatery on Route 20 in Sennett is serving ice cream only at this point. A staff of five workers and Rigby are at the location, and they plan to stay open until 10 p.m. Saturday.
Following an inspection last month, the town code enforcement officer issued a lengthy list of deficiencies he found with the property, the longtime home of the former Pioneer Restaurant. In a letter to the owners, the town warned against opening the business without the certificate.
