Roughly 500 bicyclists began a journey across the state Sunday in Buffalo as part of the annual Cycling the Erie Canal tour, which will come through Cayuga County on Wednesday.
The 400-mile tour mostly follows the Erie Canalway Trail. Riders on this year's tour come from 35 states. The event is organized by Parks & Trails New York.

Wednesday's schedule brings the tour through Cayuga County. The day will start from Seneca Falls and include a morning rest stop at Port Byron Middle School.
