Pat Venditte isn't a typical pitcher.

A couple weeks ago, the 23-year-old entered the national spotlight as a pitcher for the Staten Island Yankees.

His stats are impressive - 1-0 with a 0.00 ERA and three saves in seven games - but that's not why his highlights sprouted up on ESPN.

Venditte is an ambidextrous pitcher. He can throw with either arm, much like a switch-hitter can hit from either side of the plate. And he has equal success throwing with either arm.

The former Creighton University hurler may get an opportunity to unveil his peculiar talent this weekend in Auburn as the Yankees visit Falcon Park for a three-game series.

Venditte, who uses a glove that can easily be swapped from one hand to the other between at-bats, hasn't pitched more than 1 1-3 innings in any appearance this season.

The Doubledays only have one switch hitter, Jon Del Campo, so the decision-making on the mound may not be too difficult for Venditte.
