Local residents and business officials will have a chance to outline the transportation priorities they hope will be addressed in the next federal fiscal year.
U.S. Rep. Michael Arcuri, D-Utica, is hosting a series of community discussions this month in preparation for a congressional field hearing on the region#,s needs. The community discussions include one planned for Auburn.
The Auburn session will run from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. Monday, July 21. A location has not been announced at this point. That discussion will cover the state Department of Transportation Region 3, which includes Cortland, Cayuga, Seneca and Tompkins counties.
“Improving transportation infrastructure across our region and throughout New York #- connecting communities, businesses, farms and resources #- is my number one priority to ensure we can build our economy and create good paying jobs,” Arcuri said in a press release.
At the local forums, government officials, union representatives and local transportation businesses will outline local projects and funding needs.
The community sessions will culminate with the congressional field hearing hosted by Arcuri and U.S. Rep. Jerrold Nadler, D-Manhattan, the highest ranking New Yorker on the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee. That hearing takes place from 10 a.m. to noon July 28 in Utica.
