Man sentence to prison for assault

AUBURN - An Auburn man was sentenced in Cayuga County Court Thursday to three years in prison with five years post release supervision for a felony assault that resulted in the victim's jaw being broken in two different places.
Kyle Brahney, 31, of 128 Van Anden St., Auburn, was also ordered to pay $50,000 in restitution to cover the victim's medical bills and lost wages.

Brahney admitted that he punched the victim, knocking him unconscious, and then stomped on his face outside a Washington Street bar in Auburn on March 6.

Brahney was previously convicted of two felonies, third-degree robbery and third-degree burglary, and also had several misdemeanor criminal mischief, assault and harassment charges going back to when he was 14 years old.

Also in court:

€ An Onondaga County man pleaded not guilty in Cayuga County Court Thursday to two felony counts of sexually abusing a 7-year-old girl and one count of endangering the welfare of a child, a misdemeanor.

William Clark, 34, of Warners, is accused of touching the child while she slept. Clark was living with the child and her mother at the time of the incident.

Bail was set at $2,000 cash and $4,000 bond.

€ A Union Springs man was sentenced to two consecutive two- to four-year prison sentences for fourth-degree grand larceny and criminal possession of stolen property.

William Butler, 29, of 636 Farley Point Road, Union Springs, was also ordered to pay back $4,800 in restitution to the two victims.

Butler left town without starting construction after he received a $4,000 roofing contract from one of the victims.

Butler also took his father's credit card to withdraw nearly $800 from several HSBC ATMs.

€ A Camillus man pleaded guilty to cashing a forged check for $650 at a P&C grocery store in Auburn.

Jason Steele, 30, of 101 Roberts Road, Camillus, is expected to receive a two to four-year prison sentence when he is sentenced for his second felony conviction.

Steele is currently in prison for possession of a forged instrument and attempted grand larceny.

€ An Aurora woman pleaded not guilty to felony grand larceny and the misdemeanor crime of endangering the welfare of a child.

Tracey Mosher, 40, of 330 Ellis Point Road, Aurora, is accused of stealing a purse and using a credit card she found inside to purchase merchandise while at the Fingerlakes Mall.

Mosher is accused of having her child with her at the time of the theft.

€ Kenneth Scott, 43, of 161 Genesee St., Auburn, pleaded not guilty to three counts of criminal contempt.
