Mahoning Valley's Russell Young held Auburn hitless for five innings and the Doubledays committed five errors in a 6-1 defeat Tuesday.
Brian Van Kirk scored the lone run for the Doubledays while John Del Campo led the offense with two hits. The Doubledays stranded seven base runners.
The Scrappers' big inning came in the third when they scored three runs. Isaias Velasquez led the inning off with a double and Lonnie Chisenhall advanced him to third on a single.
Jeremie Tice knocked Velasquez in on a single and two batters later, Donnie Webb knocked an RBI single. Tice eventually scored on a wild pitch.
Scrappers pitching struck out 3 Doubledays and allowed just four hits. Young earned the win while Auburn starter Catillo Perez falls to 0-2 on the year.
Perez went 3 1-3 innings, struck out one, walked two, allowed eight hits and five earned runs.
