AUBURN - A local man faces 1.5 to three years in prison after he pleaded guilty in Cayuga County Court Tuesday to stealing $1,500 in cash from the office of a Citgo convenience store located at 50 Owasco St., Auburn, on Nov. 26.
Robert Johnson, 37, of 48 Elizabeth St., Auburn, stole the money from a desk after being invited into the office to cut the owner's hair.
Johnson will be ordered to make full restitution when he is sentenced on Aug. 12.
Johnson also admitted this was his third felony conviction.
Johnson was previously convicted of attempted assault in the second-degree in 1999 and second-degree burglary in 1993.
Also in court:
A Montezuma man was sentenced to five years probation with time already served in the Cayuga County Jail for driving while intoxicated, driving without a license and fleeing the police on June 6, 2007.
William Carey, 48, of 344 Fuller Road, Montezuma, will have to receive intensive outpatient treatment for alcohol abuse, pay more than $1,000 in fines and will have to use an ignition interlock device if he gets his license back.
The interlock device would prevent Carey from starting his car if it detects alcohol on his breath.
An Auburn man pleaded not guilty to felony contempt, misdemeanor unlawful imprisonment and harassment, a violation.
The charges against Keith Robinson, of 15 Fort St., Apt. 5, Auburn, stemmed from an incident in which he is accused of violating a restraining order against a woman and holding her against her will in a bedroom.
Robinson's attorney, Norman Chirco, said Robinson and the victim still live together and that she drove Robinson to court.
Bail was set at $2,500 cash or $5,000 bond.
