Monroe's double wins game for Angels

Kaylee Monroe led the Angels to a 14-13 win over the Yankees in the Junior Olympic softball's 11- to 12-year-old division Saturday.
Monroe picked up the bases-loaded game winning double. Avery Balk, Brittany Stephens and Taylor MacBain all had singles. The Angels were down by six heading into the final inning.

Stephens and Kara Hickey were the winning pitchers.

Stephanie Crehen led the Yankees offense with two hits, while Marisa Saurini picked up a single. Stephanie Crehen and Kaitlyn Brewer shared the pitching duties and Leanne Anthony caught a fly ball behind home plate.

Red Sox 6, Orioles 2

Sarah Zakour led the offense with three singles. Rebecca Schoonmaker and Madeline Burns controlled the offense with two hits.

Mary Netti, Kristina Netti, Sydney Cullen and Sam Gridley finished with one hit each. Zakour and Burns earned the win.

Jackie Deregis led the Orioles with an RBI single while MJ Leja also picked up a single. Leja and Bryttnaye Burdick shared time pitching.

13-15 DIVISION

Dolphins 19, Sun Devils 5

Jessica VanGiesen picked up a triple for the Dolphins, while Nicole Van Arsdale, Erin Chalupnicki and Taylor Hitching all finished with a single. Chalupnicki and Danielle Feocco earned the win.

Jenna Stevens picked up a double for the Sun Devils, while Eileen Castle and Alanna Bridgefourth scored runs. Erin Laia and Stevens both pitched.

Wolverines 14, Warriors 0

Susan Nanna went 3-for-4 at the plate, while Samantha Shaheen hit a three-run home run for the Wolverines. Nikki Weaver also hit a home run and a double. Katie Blank and Hannah Moniz shared time in the circle.

Taylor Acesti pitched a complete game for the Warriors.

8-10 DIVISION

Lil Orioles 11, Cardinals 7

Meghan Dann and Carly Vatter were the winning pitchers and both of struck out three. Dann, Vatter, Emilee Grillo, Ashley Defelice, Chelsea Vasile and Gabrielle Rizzo picked up one hit each.

Meghan Ryan, Katie Hanson and Hannah Doty picked up two hits each with Katie Hanson and Annie Giannone pitching for the Cardinals.

Lil Yankees 7, Dodgers 6

Kaitlin Feocco, Hannah Scott and Emily Serling struck out nine Dodger batters. Hayley Scott and Katelyn Loving finished with two hits each.

Feooco, Sydney Wilson, Abbey Martin and Laura Hukee also had hits. Katherine Buddleman, Wilson, Feocco and Martin made the defensive plays.

Madisyn Bachta led the Dodgers with two hits. Alexis Bashta, Lacey Netti, Allison DeVietro and Martin McQueeney also had a hit apiece. DiVietro, Netti and Maggie Lesch combined to strike out 11.
