A severe thunderstorm watch is in effect for most of central New York, including all of Cayuga County, through 8 p.m. Sunday, according the National Weather Service.

The agency is forecasting showers and thunderstorms for this afternoon. Storms could be severe, with large hail, damaging winds and heavy rain.
