After an investigation into a burglary committed on Friday at about 2:30 a.m., Auburn Police detectives arrested two Auburn men on Tuesday. Police said the pair broke into an 87-year-old Olympia Avenue resident#'s home while she was sleeping and stole numerous items.
Matthew Charles Crawford,18, of 37 Olympia Ave., Apt. A-9, Auburn, was charged with one count of burglary in the second degree, two counts of grand larceny in the fourth degree and one count of unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, a misdemeanor.
Robert George Miles II, 19, of 67 VanAnden St. Auburn, was charged with one count of burglary in the second degree, two counts of grand larceny in the fourth degree, and one count of unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, a misdemeanor.
The two individuals arrested are accused of taking the victim#'s car keys and an undisclosed amount of money, police said. They then proceeded to steal the victim#'s car, located abandoned earlier this week in Auburn. Numerous leads culminated in the identification of the two defendants, police said. Some of the stolen property was located and recovered when the arrests were made.
