After an investigation into a burglary committed on Friday at about 2:30 a.m., Auburn Police detectives arrested two Auburn men on Tuesday who broke into an 87-year-old Olympia Avenue resident's home while she was sleeping and stole numerous items.
The two individuals arrested took the victim's car keys and an undisclosed amount of money. They then proceeded to steal the victim's car, located abandoned earlier this week in Auburn.
Numerous leads culminated in the identification of the two defendants. Some of the stolen property was located and recovered when the thieves were apprehended.
Matthew Charles Crawford,18, of 37 Olympia Ave., Apt. A-9, Auburn, was charged with one count of burglary in the second degree, two counts of grand larceny in the fourth degree and one count of unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, a misdemeanor.
Robert George Miles II, 19, of 67 VanAnden St. Auburn, was charged with one count of burglary in the second degree, two counts of grand larceny in the fourth degree, and one count of unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, a misdemeanor.
