The Auburn Doubledays offense finally erupted.
The Doubledays belted 16 hits and took the rubber game against State College with a 10-4 stomping on Sunday.
Bartolo Nicolas led six Auburn players with multi-hit games. Nicolas had three base knocks, three RBIs and scored three runs.
The right fielder is off to a scintillating start this season. Nicolas is batting .462 with four RBIs in all.
Chris Demons (double), David Cooper (two doubles), Adam Amar, Leance Soto (three RBIs) and Bryan Kervin each had two hits.
Auburn jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the second inning. Jon Del Campo led off the frame with a double and scored on a Soto RBI single. Later in the inning, Nicolas brought in two runs on a single to left field and Cooper followed that up with an RBI double to right.
The Doubledays scored three more runs in the sixth inning on an error and a Soto two-run single.
Ryan Page earned his first win of the season, pitching two innings in relief of starter Matthew Wright. Page allowed one hit while Wright surrendered all four runs, though only two were earned.
Kyle Walter and Scott Leffler combined to pitch four innings of shutout ball.
Ramon Aguero got the loss for the Spikes, allowing seven runs and 10 hits in just three innings on the hill.
Matthew Hague was the only State College player with multiple hits.
The Doubledays (5-1) look to continue their host start to the season as they return home to Falcon Park and start a three-game series with Mahoning Valley today.
