Motorists using interstate highways in the region could encounter delays as a result of a number of projects announced Friday.
East of Cayuga County, the state Thruway Authority said, work on the Buckley Road Bridge will result in several traffic stoppages between 7 a.m. Monday and 7 a.m. Tuesday. The stoppages will take place on eastbound lanes to start the project, and will switch to westbound lanes in the evening. At least four stoppages in each direction will take place.
The authority will post message signs about stoppages and delays.
West of Cayuga County, the authority is planning a pavement repair project near the Geneva interchange (Exit 42) starting on Monday. Single lanes will be closed periodically through Thursday afternoon. Moderate delays are expected.
Finally, the state Department of Transportation said two lanes of Interstate 81 northbound will be closed from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday and Tuesday in Mattydale. One southbound lane will then be closed from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Wednesday at the Thruway interchange.
