The city of Auburn is trying to make it a little easier for residents who want to build a driveway at their home.
A proposed ordinance calls for an amendment to the city code that regulates new sidewalks, curbs and gutters. If the ordinance is passed, residents will not be required to install a sidewalk on a new driveway if that driveway exits onto a street that does not have sidewalks.
The current code calls for all newly installed asphalt driveways to also include concrete sidewalks.
Auburn City Council will hear a first reading of the proposal today at its business meeting. There will be no vote on the proposal.
The meeting takes place 6 p.m. at Memorial City Hall, 24 South St., Auburn.
