Batavia's defensive woes continue. For the second straight night, the Muckdogs committed four errors and the Auburn Doubledays capitalized in a 6-1 win on Wednesday.
The Doubledays scored all six runs in the third, when the Muckdogs made two miscues. Leadoff batter Chris Hopkins led Auburn's offensive effort with three hits and an RBI. Blue Jays first round-pick David Cooper went 2-for-4 with an RBI, and second baseman Steve Condotta also roped two hits.
For the second straight night, Auburn sent out four pitchers and starter Josh Wells got his first win of the season. Wells went five innings, fanning three and allowing four of the Muckdogs' five hits. Batavia starter Jameson Maj suffered the loss after lasting four innings and giving up all six Auburn hits.
