A Hartford man was sentenced to one to three years in prison for stealing more than $56,000 in cash and property from C&M Transportation in Moravia.
David Wacht, 24, of 71 Route 30, Harford, had pleaded guilty on March 27 to burglary and grand larceny.
Wacht was also ordered to pay $54,000 in restitution, which would be split with his codefendant and nephew, Ricky Predmore Jr., 21, of 76 W. Main St., Dryden, who pleaded guilty on June 12.
The two men broke into the business on Dec. 27, 2007, and stole a large sum of cash from a safe, which stored the owner's life savings.
In a statement written to the court, the victim said the two defendants had ruined his business and his life as a result of the burglary.
