HIT: To the return of another baseball season at Falcon Park for the Auburn Doubledays, who this year are the defending New York-Penn League champions.
Nothing says summer in Auburn quite like a warm night at the ballpark with family and friends.
The Doubledays are a tremendous asset for the community, as they annually provide top-notch entertainment at an affordable price.
This year, with gas and food prices forcing many people to budget their entertainment dollars, having such an option is a wonderful blessing.
HIT: To the variety of local public events that took place Sunday in honor of Father's Day.
From community breakfasts to car shows, there was plenty to choose from. We thank all of those volunteers and organizers for helping make the day special.
Whether people attended one of these gatherings or simply spent the day at home with their dad, it was a spectacular final Sunday for the spring season.
MISS: To Auburn Mayor Mike Quill and city councilors Gilda Brower and Thomas McNabb, the three people who voted to move the summer city council meeting times to 4 p.m. from the normal 6 p.m. start time.
This move is essentially made for the convenience of councilors and city staff.
City residents who must work during the day simply won't have the option to address their city council if something important comes up with respect to city business.
If these councilors truly cared about customer service, they'd vote to make the meeting time later - 6:30 or 7 p.m. Instead, they've gone in the opposite direction.
At least city councilors William Graney and Matt Smith had the intelligence to vote against the earlier time.
HIT: To Union Springs High School senior Mike Howell, who captured the Division 2 high jump championship at the New York State Track and Field meet at the University of Buffalo on Saturday.
