Auburn school budget rejected again; Southern Cayuga and J-E budgets pass
The Auburn Enlarged City School District budget was defeated Tuesday night 2,141 to 1,877.
Voters had rejected a proposed budget May 20 and the school board decided to put the same budget up for a second vote without making any changes. In a series of public meetings, the board had sought to convince voters that the initial budget was relatively lean and did not contain unnecessary expenditures.
Tuesday's re-vote was rejected by 264 votes with 154 absentee and affidavit ballots yet to be counted.
