Congratulations go out to the Fallon family on their dual win at the Soap Box Derby.
Grace Fallon won the Super Stock Division and her brother Alex won the Stock Division.
They will now go on to complete in the International Soap Box Derby in Akron, Ohio this July.
It was a great day and the competition was tough.
There were a couple of bumpy moments when the wind threatened to blow over our finish line recorders but Steve Komanecky managed to hold things together.
Jack Cavanaugh's grandson, Ian, participated for the first time with his whole family cheering him on.
Jack is a member of the Soap Box Derby Committee so this was a big event for him.
Everything went very smoothly. Gabby Petrosino started the day for us with the singing of the National Anthem.
Jim Courtney led us in a moment of silence for all those who have served their country and he also announced all of the races.
The Super Kids had a great time riding down with their partners in their super cars.
Denise Tabone and I spent the time in the tent, recording all of the time deferentials on the racers and when we weren't doing that we were outside trying to get warm in the sun.
All in all, it was another successful day for the Soap Box Derby.
As soon as we have our spaghetti banquet, we will begin planning for next year#'s race.
The ladies from the Forever Fit class were at it again. This time Jeff Hanno, our youth director, had them in the gym and they all learned the elements of playing lacrosse.
Jeff gave them sticks and showed them how to cradle the ball, pick up a ball and then shoot toward the goal. Jeff said one of the women told them that she had never perspired so much in any of her other classes.
Give these ladies credit, as they will always do whatever we tell them to do.
Besides getting their exercise, they have lots of fun and also afford all of us that observe them with a lot of laughter.
