Does Dad like cars?
Then bring him to Emerson Park on Father's Day, June 15, for the 17th annual Prison City Ramblers Car Show.

The show, hosted by the Prison City Ramblers Car Club, established in 1954, is expected to have more than 500 cars and award more than 65 trophies, according to Dominic Ciampaglia, club president.

“Our primary objective is to have fun with our cars, but we also give back to the community of Auburn and surrounding areas by doing community work and by donating money to those in need,” claims the club's Web site.

Of the proceeds the Prison City Ramblers raise each year, it donates a couple thousand dollars, which is divided up amongst different charities.

“We put our strength toward those (charities) that don't get any outside funding,” Ciampaglia said. “We try to fill the gap.”

Previous charities the club has aided include I Can Cope and the Matthew House.

Informational booths for the charities will be set up at the show.

Ciampaglia said that between last year and this year the price to put on a show has gone up, just as seemingly everything around them has risen too. This being so, he said, “You've got to have a real success to give out real money.”

The show will also have concessions, 50/50 raffles, music, a flea market, a car corral and a children's coloring contest (from 2 to 4 p.m.)

The various street rods, antiques, classics and muscle cars at the show will be judged by a committee of club members who will pick the “favorite 50” vehicles. There will also be a number of special and memorial awards.

For those wishing to register a vehicle, registration will be open from 8 a.m. until noon the day of the show. Registration is $10.
