AUBURN - A Dryden man pleaded guilty in Cayuga County Court Thursday for his role in a burglary that netted more than $56,000 from C&M Transportation in Moravia.
Ricky Predmore Jr., 21, of 76 W. Main St., Dryden, admitted to breaking into the building's safe Dec. 27, with his uncle, David Wacht, 24, 71 Route 30, Harford, before going home and splitting the money.
Wacht pleaded guilty on March 28 in exchange for his testimony against Predmore.
Predmore is expected to receive three years in prison, to be served concurrently as his current two to six year burglary prison term, when he is sentenced in July.
Predmore was also ordered to pay more than $45,000 in restitution because most of the money was never recovered.
Also in court:
A Jordan man was denied leniency when he was sentenced to two to six years in prison for his seventh driving while intoxicated conviction and 1 1/3 to four years in prison for operating a vehicle without a license.
Patrick Brennan, 52, formerly of 15 Skaneateles St., said his 14-year-old daughter and new wife would be negatively affected if he went to prison and asked for either the minimum sentence of 1.5 years, probation or house arrest.
Brennan's lawyer, Richard Gunger, said prison would not help his client deal with his alcoholism problems.
Cayuga County Judge Thomas Leone denied the request, citing Brennan had been arrested 10 times for alcohol-related crimes and had tested positive for marijuana on several occasions.
“I am not going to tolerate people who are consistently going to break the law,” Leone said. “If you want to be a raging alcoholic, fine. But you got to stay out from behind the wheel of a car and you don't do that.”
Leone added that he would be more than willing to help Brennan deal with his alcohol problem but said Brennan would still have to do prison time for his crime.
An Auburn man pleaded guilty to selling cocaine to a confidential informant on June 24, 2007.
Rocky Session, 45, of 33 Seymour St., Auburn, faces three years in prison with two years post release supervision when he is sentenced in July.
Session was also ordered to pay $300 in restitution.
A local man pleaded guilty to criminal mischief after he kneed the door of a Chrysler PT Cruiser on Feb. 2.
Michael Hannig, 42, of 38 Logan St., Auburn, faces 1.5 to three years in prison for his second felony offense and was ordered to pay $874 in restitution.
Hannig was convicted in Cayuga County of fourth-degree criminal sale of cocaine on Feb. 5.
Hannig is out on bail so he can continue to work toward paying off restitution before he is sentenced July 31.
