After 19 years, it is with sadness that we acknowledge our physical inability to continue to host the monthly bereavement support group meeting on Clymer Street in Auburn. T
his year two of our original facilitators died, our beloved Dick Cove and Newell Cole. Each of the rest of us who facilitate has also experienced the death of at least one immediate family member in the recent past.
For the past 11 years, Jeannette Berretta and I have traveled from Horseheads on the first Tuesday of the month to combine our efforts with those of Sharon Penafeather and Edna Pratt. We have had too many close calls with possible accidents on the road to ignore the risk that it is for us, especially on the return trip in the dark with various types of weather conditions.
We are grateful to Georgena Gunn, our generous publicity person, and to the many of you in the community who have financially supported the service rendered to anyone who crossed our threshold looking for support in a time of grief.
We can be available for support, consultation or counseling by appointment or phone call (252-5166) in the Auburn area and we do offer a meeting in Horseheads on the second Tuesday. Thus we are still a viable organization with the same mission of bereavement support. We value all the persons who have shared with each other both fragility and strength in coping with the death of loved ones.
