Why hasn't Barack Obama been asked about his associations with communists like Frank Marshall Davis or his associations with American haters, people like Louie Farrakhan? Why hasn't he been asked about reparations?

Next time you go "out of state," load up your trunk with cartons of butts.

The Democrats raise the tax on cigarettes way up, forcing more and more people to buy their cigarettes from the Indians, forcing the Indians to give more and more money to the same Democrat politicians that raise the taxes that make the Indians even richer. It's criminal!

Can I assume, that once again, the restaurant at Emerson Park is kaput?

" I think this whole issue about gay marriage should not be "popularized" by media and politicians. You're gay? So What! Enjoy who you are and stop trying to give the world reasons to "accept" you. I don't go around saying I am heterosexual. Just act like a normal human being. I work for some people that are gay. I don't scrutinize or question them. I just treat them like anybody else, because they are. They have no problems with me treating them like that, if anything, they respect me more. They are just PEOPLE! "

" Karl--never said that the world was perfect--I just said that it makes sense that since women and men can reproduce, doesn't it make sense that nature intended for men and women to be together? So what if there are birth defects? I mean, sex is fun, but it essentially serves the purpose of reproduction. That is scientifically proven. Human beings are the only ones who do it for pleasure. Every other species do it for reproduction purposes only. Why is it so hard to you to accept that it makes sense that nature intended for the opposite sex to get together for a few drinks, knock boots, and make babies? "

" dd, let me tell you the BIGGEST LIE that we are told as religious-trained youth--that "He's got the whole world in his hands"--meaning, of course, that everything is just perfectly designed to work as a well-oiled clock, that "God" has engineered everything to make sense, to have a purpose, to "work"
Yet babies are born in twisted shapes; "Siamese twins"; birth defects (did you ever see some of those 'Devil baby" clips on YouTube of the kids born with Ichthyosis? Jeezus!:0) Kids are stillborn, or mentally retarrded; or unable to reproduce ; even hermaphroditic--BOTH sets of sexual organs.
SO if problems with either genetics, or the mother's pregnancy can produce these aberrations and obvious physical irregularities, why is it so hard for you or others on this site to believe that the brain could not possibly produce the same patterns in brain chemistry or formation? I mean, really--what is the problem here?
If "God" or Nature only produced a flawless product every time, we wouldn't have the aforementioned tragedies.
Besides--did you ever think that maybe Gay people who have no desire to "reproduce" with the opposite sex may be Nature's way of controlling the population?! Like a recessive trait that stops an overabundance of population? I mean, if you want to go that route--"Everything has a purpose" then why would that be so impossible? "

Bloody fool! WHO THE HELL CARES?! "

" Glad you saw some of the humor in my comments Karl. But seriously, why is it two men, or two women cannot reproduce? I am not against people being gay. I say anyone should be able to live their lives as they see fit, but two men cannot produce offspring with each other. Neither can two women. I think that nature inteded for members of the opposite sex to be together and procreate. Almost every species on the planet procreates with the opposite sex. "

" I find it very upsetting that our County Legislators, who couldnt do the job we elected them for, had to hire this waste of money County Manager. So it costs us taxpayers almost 250K per year just to have this office with his overpaid secretary. The Legislature says... the County Manager will save the County money in the long run. Well folks it hasnt been a very long run, and he wants to expand the Mental Health building (which I guess is needed due to the State sanctions for the dump the Mental Health Clinic has been FORCED to rent from the County all these years), build a new County Office Building, and now he wants to build an emergency services building. HOLD on a a second... HOW is this going to save taxpayers money?? Mr. Allen, its nice you want all new buildings, and the ridiculous amount of taxpayers dollars you spent to remodel your own office space, but how does any of this reach the goal of saving taxpayers money?? So far you have been a waste of money, and it seems you look for ways to waste even more. I think its time to vote these Legislators OUT of office and vote some in that will actually DO the job they were elected for, maybe we can save MILLIONS over the next few years just in the expense of having a County Manager that WE DO NOT NEED!! " Queenie, congratulations for THE most bigoted comment ever posted on this site.
For so small a measure of a man as you, I'm sure you'll take that as a compliment.
The Citizen censor wouldn't print whatI realy want to say to you, but I will try to sum it up with a measure of civility.
Your post is actually a gift--because "true colors' posts are rare, but here you have shown yours. It shows the absolute limits of both your heart and your questionable Humanity.
YOur post is a catalogue of nearly every narrow-minded, stunted, ignorant opinion which characterizes a caricatured Bigot.
YOu call Gay Marriage "wrong"-no explanation; none necessary in your book, just as long as someone is not like YOU, or doesn't act like you (a blessing for which we should be thankful) they're "wrong". I suppose then, that you would characterize every one of these animals "wrong"--because EACH ONE of these species exhibits Homosexual behavior! Go ahead, Queenie; look it up!
* 4.1 American Bison
* 4.2 Birds
o 4.2.1 Black swans
o 4.2.2 Gulls
o 4.2.3 Mallards
o 4.2.4 Penguins
* 4.3 Bonobo and other apes
* 4.4 Bottlenose Dolphins
* 4.5 Dragonflies
* 4.6 Elephants
* 4.7 Fruit flies
* 4.8 Giraffes
* 4.9 Japanese Macaque
* 4.10 Lions
* 4.11 Lizards
* 4.12 Polecat
* 4.13 Sheep
* 4.14 Spotted Hyena
Furthermore, you would put yourself in the company of Iranian Fundamentalist Muslims, whose outlawing of Homosexual behavior is based on a Fundamentalist Interpretation of the Koran. Isn't this the SAME GROUP against which you rail and rant here nearly daily?
Yet your true colors say that you are a sympathizer. How precious, how sweet! Thank you!
Furthermore--you would attempt to characterize me as Gay, because you cannot envision a Man who is so completely secure with his own sexuality that he could vigorously defend the rights of ANY human being to love whichever sex they are compelled to be attracted and drawn to. In addition, you WOULD call me "Gay" because in your mind, it's the worst thing you could call me, right?
LOL!
For the record, Queenie; I don't care ONE BIT if people think I'm gay. You might as well call me "black", or "Liberal"! Just don;t call me "Conservative"! HORRORS!
Your other "nuts and bolts" analogy is so ridiculous as to be embarrassing for you! I'm surprised you didn't trot out the "Adam and Steve" thing! LOL!
See, Queenie, you can't see "Love" as being anything beyond "procreation". Hmmm...shades of Fundamentalism again?
Boy--I feel sorry for the former women in YOUR life!
Lastly Queenie--(I'm going to shamelessly cut-n-pasta from my OWN post on another page recently) I want you to reflect on the words of Barack Obama:
“…kids -- 7, 8, 9 years old -- take for granted now that of course a black can run for president. Of course a woman can run for president. There's a matter of factness to it that I think bodes well for the future."
YOu see, Queenie--the ideals of the Enlightenment--Equality, Liberty for ALL, Tolerance and Moderation--THESE were the ideals of the Enlightenment--the ideals upon which our country was founded. That is why our Founding Father would applaud the country giving Gays the long-denied RIGHT to marry.
In closing, I both pity, and laugh at you. Because I know that, as you go tp your grave, I know that the world YOU thought you knew--that of "us-against-them", of the rule of the White Christian Male, of comfortable bigotry taken for granted amongst "the gang" or in your own circles, of "God" and Religion; it's aallll fading into obscurity, and will be soon be a thing of only memory; something of which the young generation speaks of as we now speak of slavery and Jim Crow laws. Your world is ending, Queenie--and MINE is ascendant!
Have a nice fit of apoplexy! "

For years, NewsBusters has contended that Nobel Laureate Al Gore is spreading global warming hysteria to benefit his own wallet.
On Wednesday, despite claims by one of Gore's representatives two months ago, it was revealed that his Generation Investment Management private equity fund has taken a 9.5 percent stake in a company that has one of the largest carbon credit portfolios in the world.
Yet, on April 6, NewsBusters' Matthew Vadum reported that in response to this The Media Ignore Al Gore's Planned Global Warming Profiteering article, a GIM spokesman called his piece a "nonsense story" while claiming that neither Gore nor any other members of GIM’s board have the slightest financial vested interest in the expansion of carbon trading.
According to Thomson Financial, that's now changed. Generation Investment Management, the private equity fund chaired by former U.S. vice president Al Gore, has acquired a 9.5 percent stake in Camco International Ltd, a carbon asset developer. "

" dd--funny post, but why should gay people HAVE to procreate? Really ow--do you believe all that nonsense about "go forth and multiply"?!? Please...
It might interest you to know that when Doerner released his research, he went so far as to calling Homosexuality something like an aberration, and proposed that his research proved that Science could, in time, eliminate "Gayness"--shades of Nazi eugenics. That was enough for not only the scientific community to turn against him, but actually Gay people as well--they decried his research, so great were the implications. It may still be one of the reasons why some scientists are still reluctant to recognize it--the implications are rather scary if you're gay.
YOur question is also invalid because you assume that Gay people cannot procreate with each other. Of course they can! There's nothing stopping a gay man from impregnating a woman!
YOu would not be able to "create" a gay person however without the scientific means and tools--and then--oh, the firestorm you would create along with it! "

Yes it would be morally justified. I am not calling for it, but if it happened it would be of a wholly different moral order to the events of 7/7. It would be entirely logical and explicable. And morally equivalent to ordering the deaths of thousands of people in Iraq as Blair did.

Farmer's Gal wrote on Jun 6, 2008 12:39 PM:

" It was an honest question and I am reading different opinions with an open mind and interest.

The incentive of which I was thinking was that if you buy the old house and fix it up you won't be penalized for making it better. The way things stand now, if you fix it up, you have to pay more taxes because it's worth more -- where's the incentive in that?

Or you're just an average joe, who struggled at first with your mortgage payments, but as time has gone by, your income has increased a bit, but your house is starting to look shabby from your years of scrimping and needs some maintenance and improvements. But if you fix up your house, your taxes will go up and you'll be back to scrimping -- I've seen this happen, that people just leave their houses looking crappy, particularly on the outside, to prevent their assessment going up. So, you get neighborhoods full of half-maintained houses.

If there were no tax penalty for making a house nicer, maybe more people would do it when they reached a point in their lives when they could afford it.

I see your point about the unfairness of asking one person to pay more for the same thing, so I am thinking it through again.

Maybe both factors (value of home and income of owner) could be taken into consideration to make a more balanced approach?

The jury is still out for me on this one, so I will continue to listen and consider.

As for those without children paying school taxes -- that's because we ALL have a vested interest in having an educated citizenry; those children will be the ones running our world in the future. They will be the people driving the same roads with us, so we hope they had Drivers Ed. They will be our next door neighbors and bank tellers and police officers and mayors and congresspersons.

Parents are the persons primarily responsible for raising children, but the children they raise will affect all of our lives as time goes by, so it behooves us to support parents in making sure their children are indeed raised well.

And there can be no argument that an educated voting population is a plus for any country. "

It used to be assessments were raised do to remodeling of ones home.
But most stopped getting permits-so for the city to recoup their losses a person behind a desk decides "hey up the rate 1-3-10%"!!
BAD (for taxpayer/buyer) when one really hasn't done upgrades.
GOOD for sellers!

The other reason for upping the assessments is someone builds a high-priced home on your street..the city believes that's a given rate increase!
Taxpayer has no say.

This just thing happened in our neighborhood. End of the street, a wooded plot 1 acre, was turned into 4 plots/homes.
1/4 acre was sold for 100grand (land only)--the other 3 lots have a "path" to the river=Riverfront property==250grand per lot (land only).
each built a home-150grand +..so since we have nearly 1/2 million dollar valued homes--our assessments up to 1/2 mile away went thru the roof!
Mine alone jumped 85grand!!!???? The homes that actually do sit on the river ( 1 block from me) practically doubled.
neighbors and I had NO SAY!

Yes that's great if I had plans to sell. But I don't and neither do any of the neighbors 1/2 mile surrounding me
(except bull farm man) who is asking for 4 million for 6 acres.

Another wooded plot 1 block away is in development, 3 again have a "path" to the river. We all see it coming--more raised assessments and TAXES! "

" They found a huge oil deposit off the Gulf coast of Florida awhile back, but guess what? We're not tapping into it. The Chinese are, though. They must think we're fools. And they'd be right. We need more refineries too, but guess what? We're not building any! The ones that are raking it in really don't care to. There's a huge oil field in the northern area of Alaska that is uninhabitable, but guess what? We're not drilling for it, because it would upset the tree huggers, because they think it would upset the animal population there. And that's ok with the powers that be. You & I live on top of what is considered to be the "Saudi Arabia" of natural gas, but guess what?? We import natural gas from Canada!! Guess the utilities need to be in on the gravy train too. There's also a huge oil deposit in the Rocky Mt. region, but guess what?? We're not developing that either. What is wrong with this picture?? We're in it. "

" I see Obama friend and supporter Tony Rezko has just been convicted of guilty on 12 of 15 counts mail/wire fraud, guilty on 2 of 6 counts corrupt solicitation and guilty on 2 counts money laundering. Rezko helped bankroll all of Obama’s campaigns except his presidential bid. Rezko is on Obama’s campaign committee in his failed run against U.S. Rep. Bobby Rush and gathers between $50,000 and $75,000 of the estimated $600,000 raised, Obama said. Rezko also is on the finance committee for Obama’s 2004 U.S. Senate run. Rezko uses his Wilmette home for an Obama fundraiser. And what was the Obamessiah's response? “This isn’t the Tony Rezko I knew.” Right...He's known the guy since 1991. Sound familiar? Here's what he said about Rev. Wright:
“The person I saw yesterday was not the person that I met 20 years ago." Really? 20 years of going to the same church with the same pastor and this is the first time you've hear the racist, anti-semetic garbage? Really?
For a man with “Judgment to Lead”, he seems remarkably ignorant of the character of his acquaintances. "

" Tax on cigarettes, buying from indiants, grumble, grumble -- you could just quit smoking and solve the problem.

I know it isn't that easy, it's an addiction and hard to quit, and you have to really want to in the first place, but there are more programs than ever to help people quit, and more incentives than ever with high taxes and indian complications, etc. "

" Gee, everyone else's last minute comments from the previous Two Cents got carried over - but not mine. Here it is:

" Now, cm, those are unfair stereotypes. I have known well-educated people with lots of common sense -- as well as those with their heads off in the clouds. I have also known not-particularly-well-educated people who were also total nincompoops in every aspect of their lives -- as well as those who really had it on the ball.

I've known incredibly well-educated and intelligent people who never finished school and/or who had terrible grades. I think super brilliant people have more trouble in schools, which teach to a low common denominator, and which have worked hard to reach slower kids (to their credit) while seriously neglecting extra-bright kids (not to their credit), who are very different from "average" students.

I consider myself a person of moderate intelligence who is good at leveraging what I have for more. That has more to do with drive than intelligence.

And I've known people with lots of degrees who weren't nearly as smart as they thought there were.

So, no fair sterotyping "educated" people as lacking in common sense. " "

" cm, I realize these ridiculous little self-congratulatory platitudes which you post--like the one about "common sense"-- are really more for your benefit than ours, but your ridiculous contention that "rarely is there a combination of the two"--meaning "book smart" or "common sense" is just myopic.
Common sense comes from good parenting and personal experience. It entails a grasping of the way things work, in contemporary settings as well as in situations that may "trip" your instinct that something's askew; again, this comes from either the experience of having had a negative experience similar to that pending, or being told of one, from which one draws the vicarious experience.
An individual who has common sense can only hope to improve his intelligence by book reading/study.
I find your last few sentences there about "book smart vs common sense" to be completely unsupportable, and really, laughable. It is honestly sad that you see something irreconcilable between the two--are you REALLY that intimidated by people who have a modicum of intelligence above that with which you feel you can compete? Do you really feel the need to denigrate that? Why not let it inspire you to educate yourself more, without trying to condemn what might be within your grasp? "

" OK, listen up people—this morning, an American diplomatic convoy was attacked in Zimbabwe—the American ambassador James Magee is being unlawfully detained. He has contacted CNN and said that Zimbabwe is now a “lawless country”.
Despotic ruler Mugabe is intimidating and murdering his own people, trying to fix the elections while making it look like a “democratic process” in order to dupe the West. Even Mugabe’s wife has been reported as saying that even if the opposition were to win, “they would never see the inside of the office”.
SO!---question—all you “nation builders” and proponents of that phony “we had to invade to remove that tyrant Saddam”—do we, America, now invade Zimbabwe? Even though there’s no oil to be had?
I’ll bet we don’t! Even if we wanted to, we don’t have the troops or ability to do it! One more example of how this dumb war has handicapped and hurt the US and its military! "

FINALLY relief has come, our FOUR ships are pulling away with our supplies, hopefully given to another in need and not just throw overboard!
Goodbye Myanmar may your people RIP. "

" " FG the funny thing is the one who rebelled the most is the one with 2 kids now-different moms, which makes for interesting days.
it was the EX's kids that I watched while she worked yesterday.
I "tough loved" him once, he needed to learn the hard way. AND did!

I can handle a messy bedroom, but when bugs start arriving I tend to go nuts!
Video games are the craze, but even with my 9yr old--homework,reading, and feeding her zoo of pets comes first! They are never allowed at dinnertime!
(by the way-she just passed 3rd grade with straight A's)

Reality is with responsible kids-like him now-all your teens ideas change when you HAVE your own! All that you thought was SO important seems trivial in your 20's.--they just don't see that from 16-18, which I didn't either!

As KING stated earlier, a lot of 2 daddy's around-same with mommies, But if these young adults with kids don't face up to their responsibilities and get on the same page with raising them, there will be chaos!
I am glad my son sees that fact, and when issues arise instead of being childish, Parent to Parent meetings take place.
The well being of the child is the first priority! " "

" it is also a proven fact that one is BORN with common sense!
Which I guess liberals as you state --HAVE NONE!

There are 2 sets of people:
1. common sense
2. book smart
rarely is there a combination of the two.
Book smart aids one in life by "thinking" they know it all because it was written.
Common sense people are more goal orientated. The majority are also the 1st born child. They do not need a book to get thru life, they "put words into actions".
Where as Book smarts only place actions into Big words. " "
