So often our newspapers and TV news report the atrocities being committed by our youth. It is seldom we hear of their magnanimous qualities.
The 2008 graduating class of Auburn High School demonstrated this on prom night. By popular vote, they elected as their prom king, Scott Polcovich, a young man born with Down's Syndrome. These students have embraced Scott throughout his high school years and helped to shape him into the confidant and well-adjusted young man he has become.
As his aunt, I am proud of Scott and all he has accomplished. To be voted prom king by your peers is an honor and a privilege. I am equally proud of his classmates for all the support and encouragement they have given Scott. He has been very fortunate to have attended school with such wonderful friends.
