AUBURN - Opening day is still a few weeks away for the Auburn Doubledays, but on Saturday afternoon the gates were wide open for the team's annual fan appreciation day.
Carl Gutelius, general manger of the Doubledays, said that that the Fan Fest has been a long-standing tradition for the last several years.
“We always make it a point to do something like this,” Gutelius said. “We always try to have an open house and let people come in and pick up their tickets and walk around the park and get back into the feel of things before the season starts.”
Another part of that tradition has been holding open tryouts to sing the national anthem before the start of home games.
