Ashley Thomas pitched her final game for the seventh-seeded Cato-Meridian softball team in a 2-1 loss to third-seeded Onondaga in the Section III, Class C-1 semifinals Saturday. Thomas walked three, allowed three hits and struck out five in the outing.
Chelsea Townsend had the only two hits for the Blue Devils.

“It was a great game played by both sides,” Blue Devils coach Matt Tehonica said.

The Blue Devils had a chance to rally seventh inning but they left the bases loaded.

Cato-Meridian finishes the season 12-9 and Tehonica looks for his team to improve on those numbers next year.

“It will help having the majority of the team back,” Tehonica said. “We are restoring Cato-Meridian softball back to what it was.”

Though Cato-Meridian's toughest void to fill will be Ashley Thomas's arm and her leadership.

“It will be very hard to fill her shoes,” Tehonica said of his senior leader.
