Society needs to wake up from its apathy

Friday, May 30, 2008 11:41 PM EDT

Ah, yes, the society God intended. Well, this certainly isn't it. For the most part, we live in a society where apathy rules. Self-centeredness is close behind with mean-spiritedness a close third.
Society is apathetic in the fact it lets government run all over them. Government is not supposed to be dictatorial and overbearing. It's supposed to be a government of the people, by the people, for the people. But, the overwhelming majority of the people say nothing and do nothing to let government know enough is enough. They seem content to exist in their own little world of self-centeredness and having that chip on their shoulder about something that's not even relevant to anything that amounts to a bag of beans. We have a corrupt federal government and a corrupt state government. Does anyone really care to do anything about it? The answer, of course, is “I can't be bothered, I have other things to do.” Well, I'm sure those other things to do are eat, work, sleep and act like a plug.

I mean, come on society, how many times are you going to let government slap you in the face and take you for a ride? So what if you vote. That alone never brings about good government. Day after day, society needs to let government know bad government won't be tolerated. People need to get that perennial chip off their shoulder that's aimed in the wrong direction and aim it in the right direction. That car that sometimes parks in front of your house or goes in an out of your driveway should not be your biggest concern. Your self-centeredness and big ego have you not living in the real world. Making mountains out of molehills leaves you behind the eight ball as to dealing with matters of importance. This society needs a serious makeover to wake up and smell the coffee.

" What defines "plug" like behavior? Are we acting in the best interests of "plugs"? Are "plugs" a repressed minority? Should we contact the NAAPP (National Association for the Advancement of Plug People)? "

" gee, it sounds like maybe you could be considerate of your neighbor and simply not park in front of his house. you could turn around at a street corner and stay out of his driveway just to promote peace in your own little corner of the sad,sad world. that is unless you yourself are actually a plug. "

" DD, how does one "act like a plug"? "

" I would type a comment about Murray's letter, but I am too big and important to do so. If anyone is interested, a group of people acting like plugs will be gathering outside Curley's tonight for happy hour. Plugs, and non plugs alike are invited.

Thank you "
