An Aurora home was gutted by fire Friday evening.
Firefighters said a family had been renting the house at 923 Poplar Ridge Road but nobody was home when the fire started at about 6:15 p.m.
Firefighters from Aurora, Poplar Ridge and Scipio responded to the blaze, but flames had already consumed much of the interior and burned through the roof.
The building was still standing but had extensive damage throughout.
No information was available Friday night on who had been living at the home or on a possible cause for the fire.
Fire investigators were still on the scene after 9:30 p.m.
