Three people were injured Saturday afternoon when two motorcycles, part of a group fundraiser ride, collided near the intersection of Route 38A and Rockefeller Road in Owasco.
The three were all reportedly transported to University Hospital in Syracuse, but the extent of their injuries was not known Saturday afternoon.
The riders were participating in Bug Run 2008, a charity event organized by Cayuga-Seneca ARC to benefit underfunded and non-funded agency programs and services.
Participants in the 85-mile motorbike ride were turning onto Rockefeller Road to make a rest stop at Camp Columbus, the agency's summer camp, when, according to one of the riders, one of the drivers became confused about where to turn and was then struck by a second motorcycle making the turn.
According to witnesses, the riders on the three-wheeler were an older couple, while the other bike was driven by a man.
"Everything's up in the air," ride participant Barb Bacon said.
Ann Ventura, coordinator of public relations for ARC, said the event would not continue, and that the riders are praying for the best outcome for the people who were injured.
The ride began at noon in Seneca Falls, and participants had planned to stop in Owasco before heading to another stop in Aurora.
