UTICA -- The man who fatally shot a Utica police officer last year has been sentenced to life in prison without parole.
About 200 police officers and friends and relatives of Thomas Lindsey packed the courtroom Thursday morning for Wesley Molina-Cirino's sentencing.
Molina-Cirino was convicted of aggravated murder for the April 2007 slaying of the 32-year-old Lindsey, a former Marine and six-year police veteran. Lindsey was shot in the head from behind during a traffic stop in a high-crime neighborhood.
The sentencing took place in the same courtroom where Toussaint Davis of Philadelphia was sentenced last year to 300 years in prison for gunning down New Hartford Officer Joseph Corr while trying to flee a multimillion dollar jewelry store heist.
