DERUYTER - State police say a trooper shot and killed a man who was threatening a woman with a knife during a domestic dispute at a central New York home.
Authorities are not yet identifying the trooper or the 43-year-old man who was killed. The shooting took place just after 9 p.m. Monday in the Madison County village of DeRuyter, about 25 miles southeast of Syracuse.
State police spokesman Jack Keller says the man was warned to drop the knife several times. Keller says the man instead came at the trooper.
A 37-year-old Syracuse woman involved in the domestic dispute was treated at the scene for cuts and bruises to the throat.
The shooting is being investigated.
